Digital transformation of business is no more a cliché or a feel-good phenomenon. This is a reality and today the digital technologies are revolutionizing the entire landscape of business. This article introduces readers into various transformational digital technologies.

Like other weekdays while getting down from office cab I tried to visualize the amount of workload needed to be carried out in next 8 hours. After reaching office bay my manager told that from today onwards, I need to focus more on productive works as most of the repetitive works will be taken care of. He ended the sentence with a smile resembling sort of achievement. I realized that one new member has joined our team today and after conversing with him I understood the real reason behind my manager’s sudden happiness. It seems that the new joinee has expertise in scripting languages like Perl and Python and he is going to automate most of our daily repetitive routine checks. That was my first real life encounter with the advent of Automation.

The digital transformation in business is no more a new concept. The paradigm shift started happening long before. In today’s world  the transformation seems reached it’s peak where the magic of automation and scripting even engulfed the top manufacturers of IT hardware products across the world that they are (in a way) forced to create API (Application Programming Interface) feature in their newly launched products so that developers in different organizations can customize the products’ functionalities by injecting their in-house scripting/codes into the core of the products’ operating systems so as to invoke the desirable outcome suited for their organizational needs. Only those product manufacturers are relevant in today’s market which offer more customizable solutions to one organization beyond what it’s product manual says. The key is with the customers in true sense. The concept of virtualization, software defined platforms are testimonies of this transformation.

As a result the perception of working pattern within organizations are changing as well. The automation, virtualization etc. are reducing the human dependency into supporting the infrastructures. With the advent of cloud computing along with robust security features offered by the prominent cloud service providers like-AWS (Amazon Web Services), Azure (From Microsoft), GCP (Google Cloud Platform) many organizations are offloading their complete or most of the infrastructure services to these cloud providers’ platforms while concentrating more on their core competencies.

With IoT (Internet on Things), AI (Artificial Intelligence), ML (Machine learning) and Blockchain Technology slowly spreading their webs of supremacy in the digital world we can only say without doubt “the sky is the limit”.
